Course Description: This is an introductory course covering the theory of modules over commutative rings. Topics include quotient modules and module homomorphisms; direct sums and free modules; tensor products of modules and exact sequences; projective, injective, and flat modules; the theory of modules over principal ideal domains, and normal forms; inverse and direct limits of modules; rudiments of homological algebra. Additional topics include graded rings and graded modules, as time permits.
